RSA STAFF SPOTLIGHT:
MS. ANNETTE KOEPKE
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN
TEACHING/WORKING AT RSA?
This is my fifth year
at RSA!
HOW DO YOU INCORPORATE ART
IN YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF RENAISSANCE?
I draw every sing day, no
exaggeration! I keep a sketch calendar that I add to everyday and have been
doing this for a little over ten years! I also participate in Inktober each October and take the occasional drawing/painting commission. You can check out my work
on Instagram @moleskine_fiend.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR
HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF ART?
I recently got into
fishing, but always catch and release. I also enjoy collecting spooky things
and really enjoy musical theater.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE RSA
MEMORY?
So many good memories! I'd have to say one that stands out in my mind happened a few years back. We
had a small group of students that created a band. They would sing on the bus
when RSA would attend field trips. I requested John Denver's "country
roads," but they didn't know it. At the end of the year, they surprised me
by learning the song and playing it for me!
IF YOU WERE A RENAISSANCE
STUDENT TODAY – WHICH CLASS WOULD YOU BE MOST EXCITED TO TAKE AND WHY?
What a
challenging question! I'm going to skip my classes because I already
"take" those classes. I would love to take any of the vocal classes. I love to sing and would love to build that skill!
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR
CURRENT RENAISSANCE STUDENTS?
Try everything, but
don't expect to master everything. A big part of the artistic process is
mistakes and failure. Embrace that aspect of the process, learn from it, and
grow.
