Fall 2016-17 Course Descriptions

Over the two semesters of the academic year we expect all students to take at least one class in each of these disciplines:
  • Visual Arts
  • Music
  • Dance
  • Creative Writing
  • Film/TV
  • Theatre

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

  • All Dance Classes
  • All Stage Combat Classes
  • All Yoga Classes
  • All Movement Classes

SOCIAL STUDIES/ COMMUNICATION ARTS

All RSA students must satisfy their Social Studies and English Language Arts requirements through the Renaissance School unless a student’s IEP indicates that these classes should be taken in their morning high school. 

*Additionally, because of the connection between AP classes in Social Studies and ELA as well as scheduling needs, if a student selects an AP course in Social Studies or ELA, they must chose it in both disciplines.

CREDIT EQUIVALENCY

Course taken for 18 weeks: Two blocks per week (½ credit) 
Course taken for 18 weeks: One block per week (¼ credit) 
ELA, Civics, Humanities, American Studies, AP courses (½ credit)
